Lost at School
Why use it?
Lost at school is a resource that is extremely beneficial for students who are deemed "at risk" or are currently exhibiting an increase in behaviour but it is beneficial for all learners. The text provides strategies and tools that should be embedded into daily practice to ensure successful collaboration is occurring between the student and staff. The tool identifies unsolved problems as well as lagging skills which are the reason(s) for the challenging behaviour(s). By identifying and Collaboratively Problem Solving (CPS) together, these lagging skills are minimized ultimately creating success for all of our students.
Who can benefit from the resource?
CPS can be used for all students at all grade levels. Although a parents, guardian, school or staff may not have a student who is exhibiting challenging behaviour(s) at the present time, the strategies recommended in the text are beneficial for all learners (even if they aren't at risk). Working with students and collaborating together not only builds a trusting relationship. It teaches a valuable skill, communication and collaboration. It also indicates that as adults we acknowledge the importance of hearing the student's opinion and voice and believe that it is important to work together.
