Benefits of the program(s):
1) Cost-effective resource.
2) Provides specific guidelines on how to create an inclusive classroom while maximizing student outcomes.
3) Creates accessibility for all students to education and the curriculum.
4) A blueprint for creating instructional goals, methods, materials, and assessments that work for everyone.
5) Enhances active engagement and social and emotional outcomes for learners.
6) Supports diverse learners, student and teacher well-being, improves assessment and instruction, and creates a collaborative professional environment.
Constraints of the program(s):
1) Can be overwhelming and time consuming for teachers to read text and implement an entirely new program into their classroom.
2) Building a community takes time and as a result can affect teacher’s patience with the benefits of the program.
3) Program requires continuous effort on behalf of the classroom teacher, students and staff.
4) Some educators may continue to struggle with the idea that inclusion is the “right thing” for all students.
5) The programs likely require educators, staff and teachers to take risks and to step out of their comfort zones.
6) Although the text is an independent resource, the program implementation would highly benefit from support from other teachers, administration and the system which is not always possible.
