Out of My Mind
Why use Out of my Mind:
The novel not only addresses some of the devalued roles and restrictions our society places on individuals with special needs but it also gives an in-depth understanding of what its like to live with a physical and/or verbal disability. In using the text, teachers will be able to have discussions surrounding inclusion. Teachers can also discuss what can and should be done to ensure all members are treated equally and are socially valued.
